Terms for
actors & models.
Effective 8 September 2026 · Casting Scotland Ltd, 21 Groveburn Ave, Thornliebank, Glasgow G46 7DA · castings@castingscotland.co.uk
1. What these terms cover
Casting Scotland Marketplace is an independent online marketplace for independent creative opportunities in Scotland, including student films, short films, music videos, photography/modelling work, collaborations and similar projects. These terms apply to your Marketplace account, profile and applications. They do not create an employment contract, guarantee work, or make Casting Scotland your agent or representative.
Casting Scotland Platform is separate. Creating a Marketplace account, applying for a role, or adding profile information does not create a Platform account, transfer your information to the Platform, or mean that you are represented. Any request to be considered for the Platform must be separately explained and actively agreed to by you.
2. Your account and profile
You must provide accurate, current information and keep your account secure. Do not use another person’s identity, photographs, showreel or Spotlight link without permission.
You keep ownership of your profile content. You give us a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, display and share it through the Marketplace only as needed to operate your profile, process an application and provide the service. You can update or remove profile content through your account.
3. Applying for opportunities
An application is an expression of interest, not an offer, booking, employment contract or guarantee of payment. Productions decide whether to view, shortlist, audition, contact or cast applicants.
Read the full opportunity carefully before applying. Check the project type, dates, location, payment or expenses, age range, content, travel and special requirements. We moderate listings and reports, but moderation is not a guarantee or endorsement and we do not control productions or make casting decisions.
4. Safety and conduct
Use good judgement. Do not send money, bank details, identity documents, intimate images or other sensitive information unless you have independently verified that it is necessary, appropriate and safe. Do not attend an audition or meeting that feels unsafe. Verify the organiser and location, tell a trusted person where you are going, and leave if you are uncomfortable.
Report suspicious, misleading, discriminatory, unsafe or abusive activity through the Marketplace reporting route and, where appropriate, to the police or other relevant authority. You must not harass, threaten, discriminate against, impersonate, exploit, scam or knowingly mislead anyone using the Marketplace.
5. Age requirement and under-18s
You must be at least 16 to create or use a Marketplace account. You must provide an accurate date of birth when registering. If you are 16 or 17, you must use the Marketplace with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian, who must review opportunities, communications and any proposed engagement with you.
Productions remain responsible for safeguarding, child employment, chaperone, consent and performance-licence requirements. Casting Scotland does not obtain licences or act as a chaperone.
6. Fees, pay and contracts
Unless we clearly say otherwise before you use a paid Marketplace feature, we do not charge actors or models a fee to create a Marketplace profile or submit an application. Any payment, expenses, contract, release, tax, pension, employment status, working-time or intellectual-property arrangement is between you and the production. Confirm these directly before accepting work.
7. Privacy
Our Privacy Notice explains what personal data we collect, why we use it, who may receive it, how long we keep it and your rights. Profile images and application information are personal data. Do not include special-category or highly sensitive information unless it is genuinely necessary and you understand why it is requested.
8. Suspension or closure
We may remove content, limit access, suspend or close an account where we reasonably believe these terms, our safety rules or the law have been breached, or where necessary to protect users or the service. We will act proportionately and, where appropriate, explain the reason and provide a way to contact us.
9. Our responsibility
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Subject to that, we are responsible for providing the Marketplace with reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for agreements, conduct, services, payments, losses or disputes between you and a production, except where caused by our own failure to meet that standard.
10. Changes, contact and law
We may update these terms where necessary for legal, safety, service or operational reasons. For material changes, we will give reasonable notice through the Marketplace or by email. Questions, concerns or complaints: castings@castingscotland.co.uk.
These terms are governed by Scots law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of any mandatory law in the country where you live. Courts with jurisdiction under applicable law may hear a dispute.
